August 3, 2008.  Oscar winning actor, Morgan Freeman, was seriously injured in a car accident in Mississippi just before midnight this Sunday, and was flown by medics 90 miles to Memphis Regional Medical Center.

He is one of the most successful actors, and in the 2003 movie, Bruce Almighty, he played the role of God who temporarily endowed Jim Carrey with some of his powers.  At the end of the movie, Jim Carrey was in an accident, but God, played by Morgan Freeman, saved Carrey.

Freeman's most recent movie is "The Dark Knight," and he also was acclaimed for his acting in Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Deep Impact, and many other great movies.

He will star in the role of the former South African President Nelson Mandela in the forthcoming movie, The Human Factor.

Morgan Freeman is 71 years old, and was visiting his home town in Mississippi at the time of the accident. No other cars were involved. Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima belonging to the passenger, Demaris Meyer,  on Route 32 in Tallahachie County.  Both were wearing seat belts.  Demaris Meyer is in good condition.  Mr. Freeman was seriously injured, but was lucid and conscious at the scene after the car flipped several times before landing in a ditch.

Let us all pray for Morgan Freeman and Demaris Meyer.
