Tank Amidst Blazing Fire

RUSSIA AND GEORGIA
WAR IMMINENT
IN TERRITORIAL DISPUTE

Witnesses report that war is imminent in a territorial dispute as the Russian military moves heavy tanks into Georgia in the South Ossetia region. There have been reports of at least 1,400 civilians killed during the clash as Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili accuses Russia of bombing raids.

On the contrary, Russia accuses Georgia of ethnic cleansing of its Russian citizens living in Georgia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov publically threatens to "punish those responsible."

Georgian President Saakasvili reports that thousands of Russian troops are making war on his country with bombing raids and  battles as far north as the suburbs of Tskhinvali, the regional capital. However, war has not been declared and many efforts are being made to negotiate a cease fire.

Let us pray for peace and the wisdom of communication to end conflicts.
