BORN IN PENNSYLVANIA

Joe Biden, Jr. is 65 years old and was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942.  His great-grandfather had been a Pennsylvania Senator.

MOVED TO DELAWARE

He was the oldest in a Middle Class family of four children who moved to Claymont, Delaware where he attended a parochial school at St. Helena's School in Wilmington and the Archmere Academy in Claymont.

EDUCATION

Biden attended college at the University of Delaware and graduated in 1965.  Thereafter, he attended law school at Syracuse University and after graduating in 1968, he moved back to Wilmington and practiced law at his own law firm.

BEGAN CAREER IN POLITICS

In 1970, at age 27, Biden was elected to serve on the Newcastle County Council.  By age 29, he became a U.S. Senator, which success was devastated by family tragedy when his wife, Neila, and daughter were killed in a car accident and his two sons seriously injured.  However, Biden carried out his political duties while responsibly remaining committed to his family by commuting long-distance between Washington, D.C. and the hospital bed of his sons in Delaware, which he has continued to do while serving in the U.S. Senate.  Biden also teaches Constitutional law at the Widener University School of Law.

FAMILY

In 1977, he married Jill Jacobs who holds a PhD in education and is a professor at the Delaware Technical Community College.  He and his wife have three children: Beau, Hunter, and Ashley.  Beau works as the Delaware Attorney General, but will be deployed to Iraq this October serving in the National Guard.  Ashley is a social worker while Hunter practices law.  Biden is the grandfather of five grandchildren.

FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE

In 1997, U.S. Senator Biden moved up the ranks in the Foreign Relations Committee and even served as Chairman from 2001 to 2003, and again from January 2007 to present.

JUDICIAL COMMITTEE

He served on the Judiciary Committee for 16 years and intermittently as Chairman where he has maintained a hard line support for the Middle Class working families.

INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS

In 1999, he invoked passage of the Senate approval of the air war in Kosovo, and lead the Congressional voice against the genocide in Darfur. He guided the U.S. Senate to successful implementation of NATO's Chemical Weapons Treaty signed by Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

CRIME LEGISLATION

Biden has lead the U.S. Senate in every piece of crime legislature over the past two decades.  His legislature amassed 100,000 police officers to protect citizens with passage of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994.

In 1996, he lead the passage of the nationwide Sex Offenders Registry that protects citizens through disclosure of the identities of those convicted of violent sex crimes or committed against minors.

Biden wrote the Violence Against Women Act which criminalized domestic abuse.

He supported the Family and Medical Leave Act to facilitate the collection of child support while implementing laws that support equal pay.  He has been a vital supporter of Global Warming legislature from the beginning, and has maintained efforts to make college more affordable through tax credits. He protected the funding of military facilities from budget cuts to assure that the veterans receive quality healthcare after serving our country.

MIDDLE CLASS

Joe Biden has been the backbone of the Middle Class in America, and is fighting to keep it from being dissolved by out-of-control greediness and corruption of the wealthy.  (In Hawaii, for instance, there is no Middle Class, only the Poor Class and the Wealthy Class, which has resulted in a "slave state" with massive homelessness, extremely poor living conditions, abusive employment practices, and unjust, prejudiced, and non-enforced laws with a closed legal system only available in practice to the wealthy.)  Therefore, preservation of the Middle Class is vital to assure that the poor are not trampled down to the bottom without any hope of ever reaching success in their efforts to achieve a quality lifestyle and not even to live with basic human necessities of food, clothing, and shelter. 

PROJECTED STANCE

Obama and Biden support and preserve the human rights of the Poor Class and the Middle Class, along with assuring that the Wealthy Class benefit from the strong foundation of a prosperous society that has a genuine concern for citizens in America without discrimination.

Obama and Biden practice politics with compassion in the shared goal to achieve peace and tranquility while standing strong as leaders of our nation willing to promote their wisdom rather than submitting to a popularity contest.  They are street-smart movers who have suffered hardships that they have overcome with courage by becoming stronger and enduring to assure that our diverse America returns to the pathway of success in the worldwide effort of WisdomPeace.
