HURRICANE 2008-G (Gustav)
CAUSES MASS EXODUS OF GULF COAST

August 31, 2008.  New Orleans Mayor Nagin orders residents to leave as category 3 Hurricane 2008-G (Gustav) currently speeds toward the gulf coast with 115 mph winds that may possibly strengthen into category 4 by the time it hits landfall Monday morning.

President Bush and Vice President Cheney have cancelled their plan to attend the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota because of this storm's course toward Bush's native Texas along with other gulf states.  New Orleans is concerned that the same levees that failed three years ago may again cause massive flooding during this hurricane.

Following behind Hurricane 2008-G (Gustav) is Hurricane 2008-H (Hanna) which is carefully being monitored.

September 1, 2008.  This time, pets were designated legitimate family members which resulted in more people willing to board buses as yet another devastating hurricane 2008-G (Gustav) made a path toward the Louisiana coast. Monday morning, when the hurricane hit at category two storm force, the floodwall levees held strong even when becoming overfull.

New Orleans Mayor Nagin hopes that as early as Tuesday evening, the citizens can return to their homes.

NEW ORLEANS RETURNS HOME

September 3, 2008.  The residents who evacuated New Orleans to find a safe haven away from Hurricane 2008-G (Gustav) have been cleared to return home as long as they have the proper identification at the entrance checkpoints guarded by armed military.

The reopening of the city was delayed by Mayor Nagin while the damages were being assessed, but the people protested and gained their right to return home without further delay to salvage their property and begin the cleanup.

Let us pray for them to find strength with peace of mind even in the midst of  damages to their property, as stress can only add to their problems.
