PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS

September 20, 2008. After extremely low voter turn-out with virtually deserted polls, the results in the Primary Election show that Ann Kobayashi and Mufi Hannemann win the Primary Election.

RACE FOR MAYOR CONTINUES FOR
GENERAL ELECTION

There will be further campaigning by the two winning candidates, Ann Kobayashi and Mufi Hanneman, in the General Election. Those who voted for Dr. Panos Prevedouros in this election will probably vote for Ann Kobayashi in the General Election because she holds the next closest stance on the issues of concern.

MUFI HANNEMAN MAY NOT
FULFILL ENTIRE 4-YEAR TERM

Further, Mufi Hanneman reaffirmed that he may not fulfill the entire 4-year term if re-elected as Mayor because he may have a better job offer in 2010, which is speculated to be his campaign for either Governor or Congress.  If he runs for Governor, he will have to give up his position as Mayor under the Resign-to-Run Law. If he runs for Congress, he will not be legally required to give up his job as Major, but how could he possibly fulfill the critical problems facing Hawaii when his attention is turned to the extremely challenging campaign of either Governor or Congress.

Hawaii citizens need to focus on the future of their children, and realize that Hawaii is behind across the board on critical problems, and needs a strong leader who is dedicated to the purpose.

VOTERS DID NOT REALIZE
IPORTANCE OF PRIMARY

After interviewing several people along with the extremely low voter turn-out, it is quite clear that many voters simply did not realize the importance of this Primary Election compared to the General Election.

ECONOMIC DISCRIMINATION

Further, many of the votes were, in fact, mail-in and absentee ballots which typically the wealthy utilize, the majority of which voted for Mufi who will continue to represent the exclusive interests of the controlling Wealthy Class in Hawaii with economic discrimination against the Poor Class (Middle Class has been eliminated in Hawaii).

The final votes in this Primary Election are as follows:

Mufi Hannemann,  76,537 votes = 49.4 %

Ann Kobayashi, 46,730 votes = 30.16 %

Dr. Panos Prevedouros, 27,459 votes = 17.72 %

TAMPERING AT VOTER REGISTRATION WEBSITE

The Voter Registration Website crashed and the Office of Election claims that there was tampering which affected the count of votes because only 22 media were registered which should not have caused such a technical problem. Therefore, the election results have been delayed.

BALLOTS CONFUSING

Many voters reported that the ballots were confusing. They complained that they had to choose a party and could not just vote for all the candidates they wanted. Some were also concerned that they made unintentional mistakes that could result in their votes not being counted. If they made a check mark or x or voted for too many candidates in the group, then their ballot may be voided.  The election process should be as simple as possible so that the election vote counts rather than it functioning as a test in ballot skills.
