Dr. Panos Prevedouros is of Greek ancestry. He is engaged to Katie O'Donnell from Kahuku who is a graduate of Radford High School. They are expecting a baby boy in September. Panos' step-son is a student at the University of Hawaii Civil Engineering Dept.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Prevedouros studied for his undergraduate degree at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. Thereafter, he moved to the United States and obtained his Master's Degree and Doctorate in Transportation Engineering from one of the top 10 engineering schools in America, Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois.
CAREER:
After finishing his extensive education, Panos arrived at the University of Hawaii-Manoa in 1990, where he began his career as an Assistant Professor, and by 2003, he had achieved success by working his way up to be the Chair of the Civil Engineering graduate program, and was even granted tenure as Professor of Transportation Engineering, Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Dr. Panos Prevedouros is a licensed professional engineer, and his fame reaches worldwide as an expert in Civil Engineering in 10 countries and 33 cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, London, Munich, Paris, Tokyo, Venice, Vienna, Washington, D.C., etc. Panos authored an engineering study that he says is the state's largest simulation of five alternatives to relieve traffic congestion.
RAIL SYSTEM:
Panos states that we do not need this "heavy" rail system, but if the people elect him as Mayor for his overall qualifications, and the majority still want a rail system, then he will support a "light" rail system.
PH.D. ENGINEERING:
The important qualification of Panos is that he is an "expert" with a PhD in Engineering, which is the overall skill that Hawaii needs the most. As a mathematician, his mind is structured in logic with the attribute of being able to apply this wisdom to the mechanics of how things work which saves the taxpayers money while solving the severe infrastructure problems which are almost all engineering issues.
Panos has the ability to lead Hawaii in fixing the infrastructure including the sewer system, roadways, congested transportation problems, unaffordable housing, and many other problems that he enjoys working on so much that it has devoted his life in this area of study all the way through obtaining a doctorate.
Hawaii needs an expert fulltime, who actually lives here, leading the way rather than relying on the brief and expensive advice of outsiders who know nothing about what the people want and need. He wants to make Hawaii strong because this is his home along with us.
COMPASSION:
Further, Panos has compassion. He has empathy for the homeless, and takes an academic approach to resolving the problems. As a college professor, he is a man of logic and facts. He states that New York has made significant progress in dealing with the their severe homeless problem, and Panos wants to take a seminar there with the Hawaii police to learn a proven method of resolution.
LISTENS TO ALL THE PEOPLE:
As a professor, Panos is a man who likes to listen to the people, and has the wisdom to evaluate as well as guide with the leadership qualities to take a stand and move Hawaii out of this deteriorating infrastructure that has been ignored too long by those who have merely taken a large paycheck while doing little or nothing to improve Hawaii.

Let us pray for all the leaders of Hawaii to have WisdomPeace and to lead with the virtues of reason, courage, justice, self-discipline, empathy compassion, and patience.
