SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD WEBSITES

HIJACKING
YOUR
DOMAIN NAME
TO DOWNLOAD MALICIOUS SOFTWARE
TO VICTIMS

February 19, 2009. Malicious software developers are hijacking domain names to conceal the fact that they have "no" home website, and to avoid being tracked down once you discover that you have been victimized.

The actual software is offered at their numerous deceptive software websites, but not at the alleged company website. Some of the fraudulent software developers offer downloads at the following sites:

criticalfiles.com
softplatz.com
dodownload.com
byte-flow.com
fileaward.com
globalshareware.com
sharewareorder.com
downloads45.com
software.techrepublic.com
zdnet.com
zonshare.com
and many more . . .

(We do "not" know whether these websites are or are not connected to the fraud, but only that they are being used as the download websites. They may be victims also.)

A fraudulent software developer who recently hijacked a church website listed their software product at softplatz.com which showed their homesite internet address as the hijacked church website (which you would never realize if you did not verify the hyperlinked homesite before downloading the malicious software).

Also, the search engines showed this product originating from "Web Site China, Beijing, Anhuidongli #2 Shenghejiayuan #1 7A1 <novazm at yahoo dot com>. But, they showed their homesite hyperlink with the same domain name and internet address as the church website, but it was not.

HIJACKED WEBSITES
FOUND AFTER
SEARCHING YOUR
OWN DOMAIN NAME

When your website is hijacked, you will never know it unless you search your own domain name in the search engines and find the fraudulent software developers using your domain name to deceptively obtain credit card numbers from selling their products and downloading malicious software.

They offer downloads for all kinds of software from an IEMonitor browser to games including tangram games allegedly from ancient China and screen savers, and hundreds of other software products in the form of free shareware, trial software  or charging $8.00 to $19.99, to also fraudulently obtain your credit information along with downloading the IE Monitor browser to track your personal banking and other transaction.

Never download any software from a company unless you first investigate it and make sure that the home website has a registered name and address.

Any company who requires your credit card information and downloads software to your computer must be willing to reveal a registered name and address and phone number at any domain registry "lookup."

Evil people use deception and keep themselves hidden.

The fraudulent software can hijack any website including an active business, and merely references that business domain name as the source home website where you are downloading the malicious software.

You need to periodically check all of your domain names in a search engine, such as Google or MSN Search, and investigate anyone using the name of your company or product, and verify whether they are also using your website domain name as a source for their fraudulent business.

For instance, if you have a company called "MyBusiness" with a website at "mybusiness.com" and no matter whether you are keeping it in park or have it under construction or even if you have an active website, then the fraudulent software developers can hijack your domain name, as if they are "working" for you.

In this example, they would state at their numerous download websites that their company name is "MyBusiness" and their domain name is  "mybusiness.com" but their  customers are downloading at the fraudulent software website, for example at "frauddownload.com" but fail to verify the referenced homesite.

These fraudulent software developers are often listed amongst legitimate shareware or real company "trial" software downloads.

However, you know the difference in that the homesite shown at the download websites (even boldly displayed with a hyperlink by the fraudulent software developers) is "not" available or has nothing to do with the referenced website address, or their alleged domain name remains "parked" while they are marketing (your parked domains are a source for fraud such as this).

Any website can be hijacked in this manner. The fraudulent software developer merely wants to avoid being tracked down after your download.

Apparently, there are many victims who do not check them out because they are an enormous operation with huge listings - page after page - in the search engines, such as for the IE Web Browser which is fraudulent.

VERIFY THE BUSINESS
WEBSITE FOR ALL DOWNLOADS

They are hoping that you will never check out their business home website, because if you did, you would see that it was a church or a private website or is "under construction" or remains in park for months or is otherwise not selling the product which they are fraudulently offering.

SEARCH YOUR DOMAINS
IN SEARCH ENGINES

It is important to periodically search all your domain names, particularly those parked in search engines to make sure no one is using them deceptively for harm against you and others.
