RANDY PAUSCH PASSES
 INTO HEAVEN

July 25, 2008.  Few People actually fulfill their dreams.  Somewhere along the pathway they are distracted, never to return, and never to fulfill their destiny. Randy Pausch guides us back onto the pathway with the profound statement: "If I could only tell you one important  thing, I would say:
Tell the truth!
-- and if I could tell you one more important thing, I would say:
All the time!"
Students flocked to his class, and he would even walk into his classroom and find it filled to capacity -- with parents and other students who wanted to hear his fascinating lectures.

Randy advises us not to get upset when things get tough  and we hit a brick wall blocking our efforts.  That is just a way of finding out if you "really" want it, and it is a way of eliminating those who don't. All important things are challenging; that's why they are important.

MAJESTIC MOUNTAINS OF MANOA SHOW VOLCANIC HISTORY
WITH DEEP FOLDS

July 2008.  Viewed from Waikiki, the Majestic mountains in Manoa near the University of Hawaii show their history with deep folds covered with all kinds of natural beauty from Mother Nature.

Interesting is Diamond Head Mountain which is closer to Waikiki, but little vegetation grows on it, and it is very powdery and scary to climb up.

HUGE CHUNK OF ICE BREAKS OFF
IN THE ARTIC

July 30, 2008.  Today a huge chunk of ice, 20 sq. km (8 sq. miles), broke off from the Ward Hunt Island Ice Shelf in Canada north of Ellesmere Island which is the largest remaining ice shelf in the Artic. This was the biggest chunk to break off since 2005, but was expected after polar scientists had been observing the fracture. This large chunk of ice is floating away amidst others that randomly scatter into the ocean and cause danger to ships which unexpectedly encounter these huge floating icebergs (remember how the Titanic sunk even many years ago).  MORE

DEADLY VENOMOUS BOX JELLYFISH STING ON SCHEDULE TOURISTS NEED TO BE EDUCATED

July 28, 2008.  Venomous Box Jellyfish swarmed to the shores of Waikiki and other beaches of Hawaii. By 2:30 p.m., lifeguards had treated 111 stings, and found nearly 600 Box Jellyfish. Never touch even a dead one on the beach as the stinging cells of the tentacles can still emit venom. Tourists need to be educated about the danger of this highly venomous creature, and learn to calculate the cycle of their swarm which is predictable. Box Jellyfish carry the most deadly venom in the world. Before escaping to the shore, human victims have been known to go into shock, drown, or die of heart failure. The survivors suffer with extreme pain lasting for weeks.  Further, there is significant scarring where the tentacles stung.  MORE

KHON2 (Channel 2) DOWN

KHON2 ANALOG TRANSMITTER MALFUNCTION CAUSES
TBN AND LESEA
TO CAPTURE ANALOG VIEWERS

July 24, 2008.  KHON2 (channel 2) was the only clear station in Waikiki with shows such as Dr. Phil and Oprah.  All the other stations have been blurry. KHON2 says they will not be repairing their analog transmission but have already switched to digital.

Currently, the only clear stations in Waikiki on analog televisions are "religious" transmissions:  LeSea Broadcasting and TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) with shows like Joyce Meyer, TD Jakes, Billy Graham reruns, religious talk shows, religious movies, and every preacher known to humankind.  MORE
